We are now looking for new Network conveners to continue our efforts.
Since the summer of 2020, we have seen the BIPOC STEM Network launch and grow. We have had the privilege to work with and meet so many of you, and continue to be inspired by the Network’s members and Allies. As conveners of the Network over the last year and a half, we have worked to secure funding for the Network’s activities, hosted events, started initiatives like the BHM video series, liaised with other Networks and sat on committee discussions, and are working to launch a mentorship program. We would now like to pass on the batons to a new cohort of conveners, who can continue the Network’s activities and take it even further. We are so grateful to be a part of a growing community of inspirational researchers in Oxford STEM, and have had a truly rewarding and fulfilling experience helping out with the Network.
As a co-convener of the Network you can have a voice in several areas such as:
- Growing our thriving and supportive community for BIPOC in Oxford STEM
- Shaping and rolling out the THRIVE mentoring programme
- Initiating and expanding outreach connections for our members with Oxfordshire schools
- Highlighting the talents in Oxford STEM through for example the BIPOC in STEM video interview series
As a co-convener, you will be able to consider the needs of the Network's members and allies, you will have a vision for the Network's direction, you will be a team-player, you will be able to drive initiatives and grow connections within and beyond the university, you will be an integral part of equality, diversity and inclusion efforts in Oxford. You will be well supported by the wonderful EDI department of the MPLS Division, working closely with Prof Matt Jarvis, Jo Knights and Daisy Hung. You will be a valued member within the MPLS EDI department, and will be remunerated for your work. You do not need prior experience. What you need to bring to the table is enthusiasm and energy, and a passion for making Oxford a more inclusive place to be.
Apply now!
Note that the convener roles are paid. We really look forward to your applications!
