Information and resources for mentors

What you need to know and do as a mentor

Set up your mentor profile

Mentees and mentors are matched via MentorNet, a platform that allows participants to create a profile detailing their background and particular areas of experience. You'll therefore need to register as a mentor on MentorNet and create your profile. The more information you include in your profile the better, as this is how mentee's will make decisions around who they will request to be their mentor - you never know what a potential mentee is looking for, so include anything that may be relevant!

Make sure you have completed the mentor training

The BIPOC STEM Network recently ran a training workshop for mentors. However, if you were unable to attend, don't worry! There is a self-directed mentor training workshop available on CoSy - simply book yourself on. You can also review the slides from the original workshop.

If you have questions or concerns

You can contact the network at bipoc.network@mpls.ox.ac.uk. If your mentee is in need of mental health and wellbeing support, you can refer them to our trained Mental Health First Aider, Emily Hotine, or refer to the mental health resources posted on this page.
